I love helping students of any background understand the power of good design and storytelling.
My teaching practice centers on helping adults build an understanding of essential design foundations and graphic design theory in order to make more effective and visually compelling digital products, presentations, marketing materials—whatever it is they need in their day-to-day work. My experience in instruction ranges from large corporate groups, to small classes of adult learners, to 1:1 tutoring sessions.
I've also consulted on and developed design curricula; at General Assembly (GA), I consulted on global curriculum updates for the UX full-time and Visual Design part-time courses, and developed a “Design a Better Presentation Deck” workshop and all-day Visual Design Bootcamp. In 2018, I was recognized for my exemplary service and designated as “Distinguished Faculty,” the top 1% of of GA instructors and subject-matter experts worldwide, and from 2018 to 2020, I served as the first-ever Chair of GA's Visual Design Product Advisory Board. As chair, I collaborated with other members and instructors to establish best practices and innovative approaches to design course content—including pushing for ethics and accessibility to be an integral part of design instruction.
Beginning in 2023, I am leveraging my design background and experience with comics to teach a course on Digital Comics for California College of the Arts' Comics MFA program.
